Thomson offers biologists tools for cell growth, protein and DNA purification, cell clarification and analysis. Working with scientists has led to Thomson developing innovative flask lines for Mammalian, Insect Cells, E. coli and other microbial cells. Our Flasks allow for higher working volumes and improved aeration resulting in improved cell growth and viability and are scalable from well plates to large flasks. Thomson offers accessories including Transfer Caps and Sample Ports that make the flasks multi-functional. Along with our well plates and flasks, we carry innovative solutions for cell harvesting, purification and analysis.

Ultra Yield™ Flask

Thomson’s Ultra Yield™ Flasks (patented) have proven over the last decade to enhance the growth of E.coli & other microbial cells. The patented flask design makes them the work horse of protein and DNA labs worldwide. The Ultra Yield™ Flasks come in standardized sizes of 125mL, 250mL, 500mL and 2.5L. The flasks are designed to be closed on top by using our AirOtop™ Enhanced Seals (patented). These seals are designed to fit on the tops of the flasks. AirOtop™ Enhanced Seals are sterile, easy to use, and single use. The AirOtop™ Enhanced Seals properties include a 0.2μm resealable sterile membrane barrier providing high air exchange for all types of shake flasks. Multiple sizes are available to keep all of your flasks covered. Testing has been conducted at multiple customer sites with great results on up to 24 hours of growth. The organisms tested included Protista (Algae), E.coli and other microbes which have resulted in improved cell density, a more neutral pH of the cultures with the increased gas exchange.

Optimum Growth™ Flask

The advantages of Thomson Optimum Growth™ Flasks (patented) can be attributed to a fairly simple principal of good mixing and high oxygen transfer rate helping cells grow to higher densities. Increased aeration is achieved through a patented baffle design along with a large diameter neck and gas permeable cap. The innovation in Thomson’s Optimum Growth™ product line does not end with a single flask. Thomson has worked with its customers to reduce the footprint of its flasks in such a way to maximize space in the most commonly used cell culture incubators. In the tradition of evolving to fit customer needs, Thomson has introduced a line of companion products that work along with the Optimum Growth™ Flasks. These include caps, lids & ports that allow the sterile transfer of fluid into and out of the flasks. Current cell culture processes often involve longer culture durations that require both sampling over time and batch feeds. Thomson products support these existing workflows and help to streamline the process wherever possible.
